A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Borivali in north-west Mumbai in the early hours on Sunday.
The body of the girl was found under a flyover, just a few metres away from a footpath where she was sleeping with her family. Her body had marks that suggested she had been strangled and also bore injuries on her private parts.
The girl’s family discovered her body in a pool of blood in the morning and informed the police.On August 22, another five-year-old girl, also a pavement dweller, was raped in the Kandivali area in the city.Police suspect that both crimes could have been committed by the same accused.
