It’s been longtime, director Mani Ratnam has had a Box Office success. Almost all his recent films, barring Ok Kanmani (Ok Bangaram), have bitten the dust at the Box Office. Commercial success has been eluding the veteran director. In fact, the producer-director was also allegedly mired in some financial crisis.
Now, his latest offering Nawab seems to be giving him much-needed relief as the movie opened to good talk. While the openings for the Telugu version is bleak owing to poor promotions and poor pre-release buzz, the Tamil version got better openings.
With the good word-of-mouth and positive reviews, even the Telugu version is expected to pick up. However, lack of proper promotion is likely to take a toll on the film’s earnings. The film being released by a newcomer in Telugu states is also a shortcoming for the film. Let’s wait and see, what is in the store.
Overall, the positive talk for Nawab is the icing on the cake for Mani Ratnam.
