Akhila Skips Meeting With Naidu: What’s Up?

The internal wrangling in the Telugu Desam Party in Allagadda in Kurnool district reached its peak with the warring groups led by tourism minister Bhuma Akhila Priya and senior TDP leaver A V Subba Reddy in Allagadda continuing to indulge in clashes.

Following the recent stone pelting allegedly done by Akhila’s group on Subba Reddy and his men at Erraguntla Mitta village in Allagadda on April 20, the party’s image in the entire district hit the rock bottom, forcing TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu summoning both the leaders to Amaravati on Wednesday to sort out the issue.

However, Akhila did not turn to the capital on the pretext that she had no such information from the party asking her to meet Naidu. On the other hand, Subba Reddy arrived in capital along with his followers to present his view to the party chief.

Naidu was reportedly upset with Akhila’s attitude and sent her another message asking her to come to meet him in Amaravati at least on Thursday. It remains to be seen whether she would oblige the party president’s directive or not.

Subba Reddy is learnt to have submitted all the proofs to the party leadership about Akhila group’s involvement in the stone pelting incident.

“I had been a close associate of Bhuma family right from the beginning. Even after his death, I tried to continue the relation, but Akhila has been behaving in a high handed manner, though I treated her like my daughter. Now, after the stone pelting incident, all my relations with Bhuma family have come to an end,” he said.

Subba Reddy lodged a complaint with the police and also tried to contact the TDP chief in Vijayawada to explain the situation.

“I never wanted Akhila’s seat. I only said I would contest from Allagadda if party wanted to me to do so. And she has developed an insecurity feeling and grouse against me. I won’t quit the TDP and if the party asked, I will give my support to Akhila,” he said.
