Toyota & Kia Motors
The successor state of Andhra Pradesh is soon emerging as the hub for automobile industry. After world’s famous Kia Motors arrived to AP, Toyota Motors is on the verge of signing the deal with AP to set up its plant for the Hybrid Vehicles manufacturing in AP. This is a huge step for the industrial sector of AP given that it has beaten the states like Maharashtra, Gujarat and bagged Toyota.
Chandrababu Naidu has played a pivotal role in Toyota coming to AP. Although the original plan of Toyota was to set up in Gujarat. In fact, none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself had asked Toyota to start its operations in Gujarat during one of his interactions at an international platform. Even Toyota had Gujarat in its mind, but Chandrabaub’s master strategy has changed Toyota’s plan in the last minute.
Naidu became successful in wooing the automobile giants by strongly positioning AP’s resources such as its huge coastal corridor, availability of ports, good provision for marketing and how it is going to be an industry-friendly state. Chandrababu has indicated that AP could be their platform to launch Electrical vehicles. Apart from this, the Sops of AP state has floored Toyota. No doubt, it is a lucrative deal for Toyota that will help their business, but at the same time, it is a huge step in the progress of industrialization of Andhra Pradesh. The arrival of Toyota would promote AP as an automobile and industrial hub besides states such as Maharashtra, Gujarat and help the state bag more corporate firms.
Honda
Joining the bandwagon is Japanese automobile giant Honda which is also toying with the idea of starting its unit in AP. While Honda already has a plant in Karnataka that manufactures 6600 motor cycle units, the automobile firm is planning to set up a bigger capacity unit in Andhra Pradesh.
The arrival of Kia Motors & Toyota Motors is said to be the major reason for Honda looking at AP. Talk is that Honda is considering districts such as Kurnool, Anantapur and Chittoor to start its plant. It is of the opinion that one of these districts could be ideal for transportation to Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. If Honda arrives, this would be another feather in the cap of AP.
