Treated water from the Hussainsagar lake would be reportedly sold from April. The Buddha Purnima Project division of the HMDA through its three filling stations would be likely selling 8 million litres of non-potable recycled water every day.
Buyers would need to provide their own tankers at these filling station, but again the water cannot be sued for drinking and only fit for use in cleaning, gardens and the construction industry.
Hussainsagar currently has two Sewerage Treatment plants, 20 million litres each day, out of whoch 15 mld of recycled water is remaining, from which 7 mld is used for the HMDA in maintaining the greenery of Tank Bund and Necklace Road.
The remaining quanity of 8 mld is for sale. The price of these tankers would be reportedly fixed according to the current borewell tanker charges while the sale of lake water would be helping HMDA in earning more revenues.
