Chandrababu Responds on Nandi Awards Controversy

The Nandi awards controversy has become so embarrassing for the AP state government that even the CM had to respond in his defence.

When the issue came up for discussion in the Strategy Committee Meeting chaired by Chandrababu Naidu, he called the whole controversy unprecedented. He added that he would have conducted a survey before announcing the awards had he foreseen the controversy, and the magnitude of it. The CM said that his govt. had no role in selecting the winners, and that they gave the jury full authority to choose the best and the deserved, without showing any partiality.

The CM added that he was very disappointed as some people tried to attach ‘caste’ angle to even the Nandi awards issue. He reportedly seemed upset over some people belonging to film fraternity blaming his govt. for the decision taken by the Nandi awards jury.

Earlier, Lokesh Nara had also responded on this controversy, and asserted that the govt. had no role in finalizing the winners.
