Giant Wheel Tragedy in Andhra : Girl Died, 6 Injured

The negligence of a giant wheel operator in Anantapur has claimed the life of 10-yr-old girl Amrutha and seriously injured six others. Three of the six injured are also children who have been admitted to Anantapur general hospital where they’re being treated. The tragedy took place on Sunday night when giant wheel in local exhibition crashed.

Going into details, the giant wheel which was running with high speed crashed when one of its bolts loosened and gave away resulting in the tragedy at the fun fair organized at junior college ground in the town. The giant wheel with passengers, including children, fallen to the ground from a height while the crowd couldn’t help but watched it in horror. The fair was full of crowd due to weekend evening and it’s summer holidays as well.

According to eyewitnesses,  they had noticed that the bolt was loose and had cautioned the giant wheel operator but he allegedly failed to act timely as he was apparently drunk. After the tragedy struck, the locals had caught the ‘drunk’ operator and beat him up. However, he was later rescued and handed over to the police. The local district administration has ordered an inquiry into the accident.
