‘I Got No Death Threats’ – Telugu Director

Being verbose always when it comes to criticizing stuff, ace director Ram Gopal Varma has stirred the hornet’s nest last Friday when he embroiled controversy by tweeting unacceptable comments on Lord Ganesha. However RGV feels that he has freedom of expression despite the fact that four cases are lodged on the director under various sections of IPC.

‘My nature is to express whatever that comes to my mind. It’s my inner personality. This is not the first time I’ve spoken anything that way. I’m not offending anyone, but expressing my opinions’, says Ramu, downplaying that his intention to hurt religious sentiments of Hindus. Uncaring for the warnings he received, he adds that someone is warning him from a hideout under anonymity. ‘They are just wild snarls but nothing to worry about. Nothing like death threats’.

However, he took time to answer whether he is intentionally hurting Hindu sentiments by being cynical. ‘People will believe what they want to irrespective of what I say. Also I’m expressing opinions in a free democratic country’, he concludes. We have to see what courts will decide about his comments on Lord Ganesh.
