Indian Student Killed in US by American Student

In a shocking incident, an Indian student was killed in the United States by an American student.  22-year-old Gagandeep Singh, a final year student of software engineering, works as a taxi driver. Gagan was killed in his taxi by a 19-yr-old Jacob Coleman, whom he picked up from Spokane International Airport.

Jacob later surrendered to police and claimed that he was ‘upset’over not getting admission into Gonzaga University but was denied entry. Coleman claimed that he had flew from Seattle to Spokane to study at Gonzaga University and was upset that he was denied admission. He admitted killing Gagandeep Singh with a knife he purchased on the way during the drive.

The police, however, found no record of his application at the university. Coleman was charged with first-degree murder.

Gagandeep Singh hailed from Preet Nagar in Jalandhar. He settle in Spokane, 100 km from Bonner County, in Washington state in 2003 with his family. Gagandeep was also nephew of Jalandhar-based Congress leader Manmohan Singh Raju. Manmohan has condemned Gagandeep’s killing and stated that it is motivated by ‘racial hatred’.
