Sunjay Kapur, the ex-husband of Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 53 after suffering a heart attack while playing polo in the UK. The news of his sudden demise has come as a shock to his family, friends, and well-wishers.

Sunjay, a prominent figure in the business world, was the son of Rani Kapur and the late Surinder Kapur, founder of the Sona Group, a leading manufacturer of automotive components. Sunjay later took over as chairman of Sona Comstar and successfully steered the company’s growth both in India and globally.

According to sources, the tragic incident occurred when a bee flew into Sunjay’s mouth while he was riding his horse during a polo match. The incident is believed to have triggered a fatal heart attack. Despite the immediate medical attention he received on the field, efforts to save him were unsuccessful.

Following the heartbreaking news, several members of the Kapoor family were seen visiting Karisma Kapoor’s residence in Mumbai to offer their condolences. Kareena Kapoor and her husband Saif Ali Khan were spotted arriving late on Thursday night, along with Malaika Arora, her sister Amrita Arora’s husband, and their son. Paparazzi captured Kareena and Malaika appearing visibly emotional as they remained quietly inside their cars.

In a poignant coincidence, just hours before his untimely death, Sunjay had shared a heartfelt message on social media, expressing his sorrow over the recent Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. His final tweet read, “Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour.”

Sunjay’s personal life had often made headlines, particularly his marriage to Karisma Kapoor, which ended in 2016. The former couple shared two children — a daughter, Samaira, and a son, Kiaan. After the divorce, Sunjay went on to marry Priya Sachdev.
