After the ensemble star cast of Nani’s debut production venture, “Awe!” was revealed, people started wondering how much he would have invested to rope in big names like Kajal, Nithya Menen, Regina, Avasarala and others. It was heard that most of the stars who worked for this first-of-its-kind film, slashed their fee as they had fallen in love with the characters offered.
The latest we hear is that short sensation, Nithya Menen didn’t charge a single penny for Awe!. She worked free for the film both because of the interesting character that she was offered and also the very minimal call sheets she was asked for. Nithya, who weighs the character offered over factors like whether it was an A-lister or not, readily gave her nod as she felt the role was unmissable.
Nithya’s friendship with Nani is another reason. It may be recalled that she made her Tollywood debut with Nani starrer, ‘Ala Modalaindi’, which made her an overnight star. Ever since, the two natural actors maintained very close association.
The talented Malayali actress must be applauded for taking part in the promotional events despite not taking remuneration. Actress, who charge lakhs and even crores for films and still skip promotions, should take a leaf out of Nithya’s book.
Awe! is scheduled for worldwide release on Feb 16.
