Not ‘Awe’struck..It’s Awful!

Nani’s production Awe has come as a huge shocker to many who have caught up the early screening of the film this Friday.

While Nani’s over-the-top statement that Awe would be a game-changer for the Telugu film industry, the film turned out to be a damp squib. Based on the severe multiple personality disorder of Kali (Kajal Aggarwal) – the concept that was dealt by Shankar and Vikram way back in Aparichitudu, and a few other films that already touched this point, the film otherwise doesn’t have anything new except dealing the cause of sexual abuse.

The only freshness in the film is that there are several power cuts within the film and visuals go just blank with only audio is heard. This happens several times and at times, it literally tests the patience of viewers.

Although the film’s concept sounds good, the film’s director falters it in the execution. With film being visual media and visuals going blank often is not very welcome change. The debutante filmmaker Prashant Varma seems to have got stuck with his short film ‘Dialogue in the dark’ that is made on virtual audio with total proceedings take place inside a ‘dark’ restaurant.

All these together make Awe and awful film.
