Get ready to be astonished as the long-awaited trailer of maverick filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next magnum opus, ‘Padmavati’ has been unleashed.
The little over three-minutes trailer shows glimpses of the story of Rani Padmini aka Padmavati. Deepika Padukone, who features in the titular role, looks to have done complete justice to her character with her regal elegance. Shahid Kapoor, as Rajput king Maharawal Ratan Singh, Padmavati’s husband looks intense, fierce and ethereal.
However, the scene-stealer is Ranveer Singh, who essays the role of Alauddin Khilji. He looks every bit of the face of barbarism, and gives goosebumps each time he appears in the trailer. He makes an appearance after a minute into the trailer, and looks utterly impressive as an obsessive and ambitious invader with his kohled eyes, flowing tresses and blood-stained face. He creates much menacing impact even without uttering a single word in the trailer.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for masterful storytelling, grandeur and being a visionary director. He seems to have painted another visual masterpiece with ‘Padmavati’. The trailer oozes grandeur, be it the historical setting or the spectacular battle sequences. The background music is heart pounding and it accentuates the impact of those jaw-dropping visuals.
“Padmavati” is scheduled to hit screens on December 1, 2017.
