Paradise Papers: Jagan’s Lame Defence

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has once again come up with a lame defence. This time, it gets much worse.

Reacting to being named in Paradise Papers linking to off-shore tax haven, Jagan has stated that how this was released on the same day of the start of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra.

Jagan has challenged Chandrababu to prove that the former has off-shore investments and stated that he would quit politics if Naidu proves so. Jagan further asked Chandrababu to resign if he fails to prove that Jagan has off-shore investments.

This is certainly a lame defense from Jagan since the Paradise Papers are set of 13.4 million leaked documents involving global names and were leaked from a law-firm Appleby in abroad. So, the timing of its leak is nothing to do with Jagan’s Padayatra in any way.

Secondly, the papers were thoroughly investigated by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) working in partnership with 96 news organisations. In India, The Indian Express, investigated these records for over 10 months and arrived at the conclusion.

Only after such an elaborate investigation, extensive research, the information in documents were published.

So, Jagan has got it completely wrong when it comes to defending himself. His lame speech in Padayatra says that all.
