Under mounting pressure from various corners including party leaders, and close aides such as Mudragada Padmanabham, Jagan has taken a steep u-turn in the Kapu reservations row.
Jagan, who had given up totally on Kapu reservations stating that it is not in his hands and it is under the Centre’s purview, now retracted his statement and tried to clarify his statement. He said his words have been “misunderstood” and “misinterpreted”. Speaking at Pithapuram in East Godavari district as part of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra, Jagan turned the words towards stating that why did TDP put Kapu reservations in its manifesto despite knowing that it is practically not possible.
Jagan accused Chandrababu Naidu of cheating all castes, communities. He said he would give Rs 10,000 Crores to Kapu Corporation once he comes to power. He said YCP would bring light in the lives of poor through its “Navaratnalu” scheme.
Meanwhile, earlier, Kapu leaders in East Godavari and YCP leaders from Godavari districts and other districts had found fault with him. After a thorough brainwash, Jagan seems to have taken back his words.
“Jagan blaming TDP is irony since it is we who passed the resolution in favour of Kapu reservations in AP Assembly and even sent the Bill to the Parliament for the acceptance. As promised, our leader Chandrababu is trying his best to get it done whereas Jagan openly opposed the Kapu reservations. If Jagan is committed for Kapu reservations and for Kapu welfare, why hasn’t he put it in YCP’s manifesto?,” commented a senior TDP leader from Godavari district.
