For many of our political leaders, particularly elected public representatives, having gunmen and other security paraphernalia is just a fashion and status symbol, though many of them do not have any security threat. Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy on Thursday admitted that security has been withdrawn for many former MPs, MLAs and MLCs, as there is no security threat to them.
Replying to a question posed by Congress MLA Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka during Question Hour in State Legislative Assembly, the Home Minister said that the security has been withdrawn since they are not facing any specific threat from any individual or group.
He also denied of several public representatives getting threatening calls from unsocial elements and said no such instances have come to notice. The Home Minister, however, said security has not been withdrawn to any public representative, including MPs, MLAs and MLCs.
