Superstar Kidnap Movie Review

Story:

Jai (Aadarsh Balakrishna) is a rich kid and a spoiled brat who always enjoys with booze and girls which resulted in huge debts. Bhupal (Bhupal) is an aspirant director who banks on Jai to meet Superstar Mahesh Babu to narrate him a story and then there is Nandoo (Nandoo) who is disturbed by her girl friend Priya (Poonam Kaur) dumping him for Jai.

Nandoo waits for a right time to take revenge on Jai for trapping his girl friend. However situations force them to work together to kidnap none other than Superstar Maheh Babu. Obviously the plan leads them in to lot of trouble.

Performances:

Aadarsh, Bhupal and Nandoo have come up good performances and are a good fit for their roles. Vennela Kishore excelled and carried the entire second half on his shoulders. Poonam Kaur in an important role and Shradda das as Lady Gabbar Singh had taken care of the glamour quotient. Posani and Fish Venkat are good but are not utilized by the director. Rest of the cast are okay.

Technical Performances:

Director Sushanth Reddy had come up with a refreshing subject for his debut movie. However he faltered in executing it with perfection. The lead characters lack depth and are not utilized properly. The first half of the film is racy with a decent interval bang. However the director got derailed in the second half. However some engaging performances by Vennela Kishore, Posani, Fish Venkat and Shraddha Das saved the second half to some extent.

Sai Karthik had come up with cheeky songs suiting the genre. Most songs are situational. However he should have put more effort in the back ground score which is not at all effective. Cinematography is good. The animation used in the second half is refreshing but it is too long to enjoy. Editing is good while production values are adequate.

Plus Points:

  • Refreshing storyline
  • Subtle comedy
  • Good first half

Minus Points:

Derailed second half

Final Say:

Superstar Kidnap is honest and refreshing effort but let down by the narration. However the film is still a one time watch for its good comedy. But remember go with absolutely Zero competition.
