We have seen some top heroines and directors, rarely even music directors, charging more remuneration than heroes in some films. But, here is the surprising case of a cinematographer taking home fatter pay than hero’s.
Senthil Kumar, best known as the aasthana cinematographer of Rajamouli (shot Baahubali films as well) has been signed to render his services for young hero Nikhil’s new film, the Telugu remake of Tamil hit, “Kanithan”. It is heard that whereas Nikhil was paid a decent Rs 80 lakhs, Senthil took home Rs 90 lakhs remuneration for this untitled film. Apparently, Senthil is the highest paid actor or technician working on the remake.
Makers of ‘Kanithan’ Telugu remake wanted a top class cinematographer to shoot the investigative thriller and hence roped Senthil in. They didn’t mind paying him the said amount as they feel he deserved it.
Meanwhile, the makers are yet to lock the female lead. Discussions are on with a couple of noted heroines. Catherine Tresa was the leading lady of the Tamil film.
