‘Without Sridevi, Vyjayanthi Movies is incomplete’

Tributes are being paid to Sridevi, one of the most-celebrated actresses of India. Sridevi Boney Kapoor died of cardiac arrest on Saturday night at a hotel in Dubai. She was 54.

Paying tribute to her untimely death, noted Tollywood producer Ashwini Dutt said it’s an irreplaceable loss to the Indian film fraternity. The ace producer who made many notable films with the actress, on his banner Vyjayanthi Movies, said- ‘it’s a personal loss to my family’ and quoted – ‘with her death, Cinema has lost glamour’.

While remembering her dedication and humbleness despite being a superstar, Dutt had this to say about Sridevi – ‘Without Sridevi, Vyjayanthi Movies is incomplete and it’s hard to think of it. Aakhari Poratam and Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari are two films that were lifted by her golden presence. Our family still shares a great bonding with Sridevi and the news of her death is completely indigestible. Every time when she is in Hyderabad, she keeps us informed and doesn’t miss to dine with us.’

Comparing Sridevi with legendary actress Savithri, the ace producer applauded her simplicity, behavior and remembered how she managed her call sheets for Aakhari Poratam (Telugu) despite being a busiest star in Bollywood. Dutt also divulged that he asked Sridevi of launching her daughter in Telugu with a sequel to Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, for which she always expressed happiness.

Sridevi rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s with continuous films in Telugu, Tamil & Hindi and eventually, became one of India’s most iconic leading ladies.
