Yeddyurappa’s Letter To Guv, Claims Majority To Form Govt

A day after the results were announced in Karnataka with a split verdict – no majority to any of the three parties to form government on its own, fast paced developments are taking place. BJP’s CM candidate BS Yeddyurappa has been elected as the leader of the legislature party. Yeddyurappa has submitted a letter – signed by the 104 MLAs – to the Governor Vajubhai Vala seeking to form the government in Karnataka.

Yeddyurappa and BJP’s leaders claim that they have majority to form government stating they have support from a few elected legislative members from other parties.

When media asked Prakash Javadekar how would BJP gain majority since it is short of 8 MLAs now, he responded saying it would happen in “natural process”. He reasoned saying a few MLAs are unhappy of the “unethical marriage” of Congress and JD(S).

On the other hand, Congress and JD(S) have rejected the claims of BJP stating their MLAs are intact. Both Congress and JD(S) are planning to move their MLAs to a resort to avoid any sort of poaching by BJP leaders. Congress and JD(S) leaders alleged that a few of their MLAs have been offered ministries and other benefits to support the BJP. Ex CM Siddaramaiah accused Yeddyurappa of trying to poach Congress MLAs and said such acts won’t be fruitful.

The happenings in Karnataka are resembling a plot straight out of a political thriller.
