Acclaimed actress Radhika Apte has opened up about the lack of empathy she experienced from the Hindi film industry during her pregnancy. In a recent live session on Neha Dhupia’s talk series Freedom to Feed, Apte candidly shared the emotional and physical challenges she faced after announcing her pregnancy in October last year.

Reflecting on the period, Radhika revealed that her excitement was overshadowed by the industry’s disheartening response. She recalled how a prominent Bollywood producer reacted coldly upon learning about her condition and insisted that she continue wearing tight-fitting costumes, despite her discomfort and visible bloating.

“The response was far from supportive,” the Rakta Charitra actress said. “I was in my first trimester, experiencing pain and emotional upheaval, yet I wasn’t even allowed to consult a doctor while on set. The experience was deeply upsetting.”

Apte’s revelations have sparked conversations about the treatment of women, especially pregnant women, in the entertainment industry, highlighting the urgent need for greater awareness, compassion, and structural support for female actors during such critical phases of their lives.
