In a monumental moment set to redefine the landscape of Indian cinema, SS Rajamouli, the visionary director behind the global hit RRR, inaugurated India’s first-ever Dolby-certified postproduction facility for both cinema and home entertainment at the prestigious Annapurna Studios. Nagarjuna Akkineni, Vice Chairman of Annapurna Studios, was also present to mark this historic occasion.

This cutting-edge Dolby-certified facility is designed to elevate the audio-visual quality of Indian filmmaking, offering filmmakers an advanced environment that aligns with global standards. The collaboration between Annapurna Studios and Dolby emphasizes the studio’s commitment to fostering innovation and raising the bar for Indian cinema’s technical excellence.

To celebrate the launch, a special screening of RRR footage in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos was showcased. Rajamouli, speaking at the event, reflected on the journey of Indian cinema’s technological growth, stating, “In the past, we had to travel all the way to Germany for Dolby Vision grading. Now, Annapurna Studios has its own Dolby Vision facility, and soon Dolby Cinemas will be available across India.”

Nagarjuna Akkineni expressed his pride in Annapurna Studios’ enduring legacy of embracing cutting-edge technologies, remarking, “As we celebrate our 50th year, this partnership with Dolby marks a giant leap forward in our mission to position Indian cinema at the global forefront.”
