According to reliable sources, legendary actor Kamal Haasan is set to commence shooting for the much-anticipated sequel to Kalki 2898 AD starting February 2026. Haasan, who was last seen portraying a ruthless gangster in Thug Life, will reprise his role as the dark and powerful Supreme Yaskin. Unlike the first installment, where his screen time was limited, the sequel is expected to give Haasan a significantly larger arc, with 60 to 70 shooting days allotted for his character.

A source revealed, “Haasan’s vast range as a performer will come into play in the sequel. His character will not only exude power but also explore a wide spectrum of emotions.”

Meanwhile, Prabhas, who played a grey-shaded character in the first film, is expected to join the shoot from March 2026, depending on his prior commitments. “He has a massive role in the sequel as Warrior Karna. The story takes his character to new dimensions. In the first part, he was seen as a bounty hunter seeking power units and aiming to settle in the revered Complex,” added the insider.

A few weeks ago, producer Swapna Dutt had hinted at the sequel’s shoot, stating, “We have no other films at the moment. Our entire focus is on the Kalki sequel, which will start very soon,” without revealing further details.

The epic science-fiction franchise stars Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Vijay Deverakonda, with the sequel expected to introduce a new female lead in place of Deepika Padukone.
