Prakash Raj’s Mother Suvarna Latha Passes Away

Veteran actor Prakash Raj is currently going through a deeply emotional phase as his mother, Suvarna Latha, passed away at the age of 86. She breathed her last at their residence this morning after battling age-related health issues for some time. The family has confirmed that the last rites will be performed this evening in Bengaluru.
As soon as the news broke, condolences poured in from film celebrities, fans, and political leaders, expressing their heartfelt sympathy to Prakash Raj and his family. The unfortunate incident has left the film industry in shock, with many mourning the loss alongside the actor.
Born on March 26, 1965, in Bengaluru-Mysore region, Prakash Raj has established himself as a versatile performer, working as an actor, producer, director, television host, and even politician. Before entering films, he was actively involved in theatre and television in Kannada, which shaped his strong foundation in acting.
He made his film debut in Tamil cinema with K. Balachander’s Duet and went on to become one of the most respected performers across South Indian and Hindi film industries. Known for his powerful negative and character roles, he has delivered several critically acclaimed performances over the years.
Prakash Raj has also received numerous prestigious awards, including two National Film Awards—one for Mani Ratnam’s Iruvar (Best Supporting Actor) and another for Krishna Vamsi’s Telugu film Anthahpuram. As a producer, he also won a National Award for the Kannada film Puttakkana Highway.
On the personal front, he married actress Lalitha Kumari in 1994 and has three children, including his late son Sidhu, who tragically passed away in 2004 at the age of five. Following personal hardships, he later divorced in 2009 and remarried choreographer Pony Verma in 2010, with whom he has a son named Vedhant.
The passing of his mother has left Prakash Raj devastated, with the entire industry standing by him during this difficult time.
