SKN Demands Fair Screen Allocation for Small Films in Tollywood

The issue of film distribution and exhibition has increasingly become a major concern in Telugu cinema, especially for small and medium-budget films that often struggle to secure adequate screens during big releases. Addressing this long-standing problem, producer SKN recently voiced his strong opinion, sparking fresh debate within Tollywood.
Speaking candidly at a public interaction, SKN openly expressed his frustration over what he described as unfair and monopolised screen allocation practices. He pointed out that films backed by influential producers and major banners tend to dominate theatres, leaving little to no space for smaller projects, even when there is genuine audience interest.
SKN clarified that he is not seeking favours or preferential treatment. Instead, he stressed that all he wants is a fair opportunity for his film to reach audiences. He remarked that even being allotted a single theatre would be enough for him to feel supported, and he would publicly acknowledge those who extend such cooperation. However, he also issued a clear warning that if his film is denied screens despite demand, he would not stay silent.
The producer stated that he is prepared to repeatedly raise the issue across public platforms and social media until the matter receives proper attention. His bold comments were widely seen as a direct message to powerful producers and influential theatre owners who control distribution and exhibition networks in the industry.
SKN’s remarks quickly became a talking point in Tollywood circles. While many filmmakers and observers praised him for speaking up against an unequal system, others felt that his approach was confrontational. Regardless, the episode has once again brought the spotlight back on the imbalance between big production houses and smaller filmmakers, reopening discussions around transparency, fairness, and equal opportunity in Telugu cinema.
