Akshaye Khanna will not be returning for the Hindi version of Drishyam 3, a development that has surprised many viewers, especially after his impactful performance in Drishyam 2. When the makers officially announced the film’s release date as October 2, 2026, they revealed the core cast featuring Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, and Rajat Kapoor. However, Akshaye Khanna’s name was noticeably absent, triggering speculation about his exit.

Given his strong resurgence at the box office with recent successes like Dhurandhar and Chhaava, many assumed Akshaye would reprise his role in the third installment as well. According to reports, the primary reason behind his departure was a fee disagreement. With his increased market value following recent hits, Akshaye reportedly demanded around ₹21 crore for Drishyam 3. The makers felt this amount was too steep and would significantly disrupt the film’s planned budget.

Despite multiple rounds of discussions, neither side was willing to compromise on the remuneration. In addition to financial differences, creative disagreements also played a role. Akshaye reportedly wished to wear a wig for his character, but the makers rejected the idea, citing the need for visual continuity, as he appeared without a wig in Drishyam 2.

With no common ground reached on either financial or creative aspects, Akshaye Khanna ultimately chose to step away from the project. Sources suggest that the separation was mutual and amicable, with no bad blood between the actor and the makers.
