Superstar Rajinikanth is actively exploring options for his next film as he considers upcoming projects. He is currently busy with Nelson Dilipkumar’s Jailer 2, with shooting nearing completion.

Looking ahead to 2026, Rajinikanth plans to start a new film produced by his close friend and fellow legend Kamal Haasan. While Rajinikanth will play the lead, Kamal Haasan will be bankrolling the project.

Earlier, director Lokesh Kanagaraj was reportedly in talks, but following the lukewarm response to Coolie, the collaboration did not materialize. Sundar C was later announced as director but eventually exited the project.

At present, Rajinikanth has been meeting several promising young directors from both the Tamil and Telugu film industries. He has interacted with Ashwath Marimuthu (Dragon), Abhishan (Tourist Family), and Ramkumar Balakrishnan (Parking). He has also heard story narrations from Telugu director Gopichand Malineni and remains open to exploring more talent from Telugu cinema.
