Delhi HC Bars AI Videos Using Akira Nandan’s Image Without Consent

With the rapid evolution of social media, the number of content creators has grown exponentially. Many of these creators are now leveraging AI technology to generate videos, opening up new creative possibilities.
A growing trend involves using AI to recreate the likenesses of popular Telugu actors, allowing creators to craft mini-films featuring superstars in any storyline they desire. Recently, a creator released a series of videos titled “AI Love Story”, featuring Pawan Kalyan’s son, Akira Nandan. These videos quickly went viral, drawing significant attention.
However, Akira intervened legally, approaching the Delhi High Court to protect his image rights. The court promptly issued an injunction, directing content creators to refrain from using Akira’s likeness on social media without his consent.
This is not the first time Telugu actors have sought legal protection against unauthorized use of their images. Many stars have successfully obtained injunctions to prevent AI-generated or other content from being shared without approval. Akira’s case now sets a strong precedent, sending a clear message to creators: using AI to generate videos featuring celebrities without consent can lead to legal consequences.
The ruling highlights the risks of unregulated AI content, which can generate massive views but may also violate privacy and intellectual property rights. Courts are now taking steps to ensure that celebrities’ images and identities are protected, emphasizing the need for creators to exercise caution.
