Nara Lokesh Highlights Gaps and Reforms in Andhra Pradesh Education System

A key quality of an effective cabinet minister is a strong ground-level understanding of their portfolio, and Andhra Pradesh IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh appears to exemplify this.
While discussing academic syllabi and evolving global employment trends, Lokesh candidly assessed the current education system. He noted that many students graduating from traditional institutions struggle to secure jobs, often turning to private coaching centers in places like Ameerpet, where they gain employment within a few months. Lokesh emphasized that this is not a failure of students, but a failure of institutions. Teaching outdated content, he argued, is a betrayal of students’ trust and future prospects.
He further highlighted that India’s education system remains highly compartmentalized, limiting students’ ability to compete on a global scale. According to Lokesh, bridging the gap between education and industry requirements is urgent and essential.
On a positive note, Lokesh praised the Andhra Pradesh government’s progressive initiatives, such as introducing artificial intelligence coaching from the primary education level. With AI poised to shape the future of technology and IT infrastructure, this step is seen as timely and well-planned, positioning students for future opportunities in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
