Toxic Postponed Amid Dhurandhar 2 Pressure?

The release of Toxic, starring Yash, has officially been pushed from March 19 to June 4. The makers have cited unrest in the Middle East amid the Iran–USA tensions as the primary reason for the postponement.
However, trade circles believe there may be multiple factors behind the decision. Industry observers point out that Toxic could face stiff competition from Dhurandhar 2, which currently appears to be enjoying stronger buzz among sections of the mass audience. Between the two, many feel that audience curiosity is slightly tilted toward Dhurandhar 2 at the moment.
While the teaser of Toxic initially generated excitement, the recently released first single, “Tabaahi,” received a mixed-to-negative response online. Instead of amplifying anticipation, the song struggled to build sustained momentum for the film, leading to concerns about pre-release hype.
Another significant aspect is the film’s reportedly high pre-release business. Since Toxic is said to have been sold at premium prices across territories, recovery could become challenging in a competitive window. A solo release in June may offer better box office prospects and breathing space.
Though the official statement attributes the delay to geopolitical unrest, industry insiders suggest that strategic release planning and market considerations may also have influenced the move. Interestingly, the makers can also sidestep direct comparisons with Dhurandhar 2, as that film is reportedly unlikely to release in certain Middle East territories due to its sensitive anti-Pakistan backdrop, similar to its first installment.
