Nagarjuna and Tabu share a long-standing friendship that dates back to the very beginning of her career, and the actress is keen on being part of a landmark moment in Nag’s journey — his 100th film.

Speaking about their bond, Nagarjuna said, “We go back a very long way. I’ve known Tabu since the time she started out. When she found out that I was doing my hundredth film, she immediately expressed her desire to be part of it.”

Tentatively titled King 100, the milestone project is being directed by Ra Karthik. While Nagarjuna will be seen in the titular role, Tabu will essay a crucial and impactful character. Interestingly, the duo will not be paired romantically in the film, as two other actresses have been cast as the romantic leads.

The last time Nagarjuna and Tabu shared screen space was in 1998’s Aavida Maa Aavide, a film inspired by the 1940 Hollywood classic My Favourite Wife. Reflecting on his 100th film, Nagarjuna made it clear that he is in no hurry to rush the project to release.

“I don’t want to rush this at all. Audience tastes are changing very rapidly, and I want to ensure we are doing something truly special,” he said. Emphasizing realism, the actor added that the action sequences in King 100 will not be heavily dependent on visual effects. “Audiences today want action that feels real, not other-worldly. The era of larger-than-life heroes is slowly fading,” Nagarjuna asserted.
