Pizzaovens.com, a US-based restaurant equipment firm has entered the Guinness Book of World Records by preparing a pizza measuring 1,930 metres in length.
As many as 100 chefs in California volunteered to help the US company beat the previous record of 1,853.88 metres long piza, which was cooked in Italy.
The enormous pizza was cooked using 3,632 kilogrammes of dough, 1,634 kgs of cheese and 2,542 kgs of sauce. The stretched dough ran along a conveyor belt which passed through three industrial ovens, which cooked the pizza nonstop for eight hours.
According to the Guinness World Records, scores pf people volunteered to help shift the oven every 17 minutes so as to not burn the dough. Once the Guinness officials declared the new world record, the pizza was sliced into thousands of pieces and was donated to local food banks and homeless shelters.
