Nandamuri Balakrishna’s much-awaited Sankranthi release, Daaku Maharaaj, recently had a grand pre-release event in the USA, where the senior star made some intriguing remarks about his journey, spirituality, and evolving approach to success. In an inspiring speech, Balayya reflected on his decades-long career and described this phase as his “second innings.”

Recalling his entry into the film industry, Balakrishna credited his legendary father, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), for introducing him to the world of cinema. Inspired by NTR’s towering legacy, Balayya expressed pride in carving out his unique identity, proclaiming, “Today, I have become a self-made diamond.”

Addressing criticism with remarkable confidence, Balayya stated that he remains unaffected by negativity. He emphasized that age and experience have given him the clarity to make wiser choices, particularly in selecting stories. Reflecting on his recent streak of hits—Akhanda, Veerasimha Reddy, and Bhagavanth Kesari—he likened this phase to 1986, a golden year in his career when he delivered seven consecutive blockbusters.

Unlike many senior actors who shift to character roles during their later years, Balayya boldly declared, “I’m starting my second innings not as a character artist, but as a hero who has delivered three back-to-back blockbusters and won three consecutive terms as Hindupur MLA.”
