The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)’s PSLV C37 lifts off successfully from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, which marks as a red-letter day in the Indian space history. Successful launching of PSLV-C37 & CARTOSAT satellite together with 103 nano satellites (a total of 104) in one go, reiterates India capability in handling space missions and taking nation to an all new commendable position.
PSLV first launched the 714 kg CARTOSAT-2 Series satellite for earth observation and then inject 103 co-passenger satellites, together weighing about 664 kg at lift-off into polar Sun Synchronous Orbit, about 505 km from Earth. Two of nano satellites belongs to India. Of the remaining 101 co-passenger-foreign satellites, 96 of these belong to USA, and one each are from ISRO’s international customers Israel, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Switzerland and United Arab Emirates.
ISRO creates history with launching 104 Satellites at a one go by surpassing the Russian Space Agency, which holds the record with 37 satellites. Earlier, ISRO successfully launched 20 satellites in one go in June 2015.
“A unique separation sequence which was suggested by ISRO team has happened and the all the stages have performed exceptionally well,” tells a member, who worked on this mission.
Congratulations poured in for ISRO from all over social media. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Congratulations to ISRO for the successful launch of PSLV-C37 and CARTOSAT satellite together with 103 nano satellites!” He also added, “This remarkable feat by ISRO is yet another proud moment for our space scientific community and the nation. India salutes our scientists.”
Also, Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandra Babu Naidu and others have conveyed big ‘congratulations’ to the ISRO team, for inscribing India’s name in golden letters in the space sector.
