Pawan Kalyan Defends Ticket Hikes, Slams Politics in Telugu Cinema
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan attended the grand pre-release event of Ram Charan’s Game Changer in Rajahmundry this evening. During his impactful speech, Pawan addressed key issues surrounding the Telugu film industry and its intersection with politics, making several strong and thought-provoking statements.
Pawan defended the practice of increasing ticket prices for films, highlighting that it’s a matter of demand and supply. He argued that ticket price hikes are necessary to offset the rising budgets driven by the expanding scale and standards of Telugu cinema. He noted that such hikes also benefit the government through increased GST revenue. Referring to his own film Bheemla Nayak, Pawan criticized the unjust reduction of ticket prices, which he said hurt the film’s prospects, and called for fair treatment for the industry.
Addressing the relationship between politics and cinema, Pawan firmly stated that movies should remain separate from political agendas. He clarified that the NDA government holds no bias against film stars, even those who did not support them during elections. “Cinema should be treated as an independent entity, free from political interference,” he emphasized. He also criticized certain political parties for attempting to force film stars to seek incentives with folded hands, assuring that the NDA government would maintain dignity and professionalism in its dealings with the industry.
Pawan underlined that only those with firsthand experience in the film industry are qualified to discuss its challenges and complexities, taking a subtle jab at politicians who lack this understanding. He further praised Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for his unwavering support of the Telugu film industry, noting that during Naidu’s tenure as CM, the industry experienced significant growth without unnecessary obstacles.
The speech resonated with fans and industry professionals alike, reinforcing Pawan Kalyan’s vision for a fair and thriving Telugu cinema ecosystem.
