Telangana debts up by 159 percent!

Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that the debts of Telangana state have gone up by 159 percent in the last five years. As of March 2019, the total value of debts is Rs 1,80,239 crore. When the separate state was formed the outstanding debts were Rs 69,517 crore.

In response to Congress MP MA Khan’s question, Nirmala revealed these figures in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. The Finance minister also said, the government has raised the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) limit to all the state for once and so Telangana government took a loan of Rs 8923 crore to take over the Power supply providers (DISCOMS) for the year 2016-17.
