Hi Nanna Faces Plagiarism Allegations from Kannada Producer
Nani, widely regarded as one of the most bankable actors in Tollywood, is known not only for his acting prowess but also for his support of young and fresh talent. He frequently collaborates with debut directors, bringing fresh stories to the screen. However, Nani’s latest film Hi Nanna has found itself at the center of a controversy, with accusations of plagiarism from a Kannada filmmaker.
Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah, an established producer in Kannada cinema who worked on Bheemasena Nalamaharaja, has claimed that Hi Nanna is a direct copy of his original film. According to Mallikarjunaiah, the Telugu film was made without obtaining the official remake rights, and he accused the makers of blatantly remaking the Kannada film.
Taking to Instagram, Mallikarjunaiah tagged Nani and expressed his displeasure, using strong language and saying, “Shame on you.” His allegations suggest that Hi Nanna is essentially a “freemake” of the original Kannada film. While his frustration is understandable, targeting the lead actor in such a public manner may not be the best approach, as it is typically the director who handles script development and works with the actor.
Now, the question arises whether Mallikarjunaiah will take legal action and file a copyright infringement case against the makers of Hi Nanna. It remains to be seen how this issue unfolds and what steps the producer will take next.
