After the sad incident of Faridabad Murder, the word Love Jihad became popular. From the normal public to politicians, everyone started talking about Love Jihad widely.The Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reacted first and took a decision to tackle Love Jihad. The government even passed a law against it.
One more state reportedly joined the list of states that came forward to tackle ‘Love Jihad’. Karnataka is reportedly taking steps towards fighting the practice of Love Jihad.BJP leader and Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa who addressed the party-state executive meeting said that the government will put an end to the practice of Love Jihad., reports claimed.
He added that many young girls in the state were being lured to change their belief on the pretext of love. He called the practice evil and said all the required steps will be taken to stop this.Earlier, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh are considering passing a law to restrict the Love Jihad practice.
Love Jihad is a term which deals with the practice of Muslim men targetting Hindu women to force them to convert to Islam for the sake of marriage.Several media outlets termed the killing of 20-year-old Nikita Tomar as ‘Love Jihad’ as she was shot dead by the accused after she reportedly refused to convert to Islam.
