It is quite common for heroes to have bad phases in their careers. Currently, the Akkineni heroes are going through such a period. King Nagarjuna arrived with ‘Ghost’ during the Dasara season of 2022. This action flick which was directed by Praveen Sattaru turned out to be a disaster. It did not get good collections and the talk wasn’t encouraging too. Prior to that, Nagarjuna’s ‘Manmadhudu 2’ and ‘Wild Dog’ were also big failures.
Last year, Naga Chaitanya arrived with a slice-of-life drama named ‘Thank You’. Dil Raju produced it while Vikram Kumar directed this movie. It ended up being a big failure. Dil Raju lost a lot of money and Vikram Kumar is yet to start his new project. Young hero Akhil Akkineni too faced a huge disaster in the form of ‘Agent’.
Directed by Surender Reddy, this high-budget spy thriller was released on 28th April and the talk was very bad that it learned less than 10 crores while the movie was made on a budget of 80 crores. Akhil already had flops like ‘Akhil’, ‘Hello’, and ‘Mr. Majnu’ before. But people hoped for Naga Chaitanya to bounce back with ‘Custody’ as the story was quite interesting and the promos generated a lot of positive buzz.
But the movie which came out on Friday turned out to be a huge disappointment. Many are predicting that it will be a big failure in both Naga Chaitanya and Venkat Prabhu’s careers. Chaitanya’s plans to get launched in Bollywood with ‘Laal Singh Chadda’ failed as well. With the wrong script selection and execution, the movies ended up as huge debacles. The Akkineni heroes have to be very careful with their next projects. Otherwise, their market will go down even further. Hope that it never happens.
