Kingdom Struggles at Box Office Despite Decent Talk
Despite receiving above-average reviews, Vijay Deverakonda’s “Kingdom” is struggling to make a mark at the box office. With gross collections reaching ₹52.55 crores, the film currently sits at ninth position in Tollywood’s 2025 top-grossing films list. At best, it may surpass Mad Square (₹58.5 crores), but it still lags far behind Naga Chaitanya’s “Thandel” (₹77.39 crores), raising questions about Vijay’s fading mass appeal.
In stark contrast, Pawan Kalyan’s “Hari Hara Veera Mallu”, despite mixed reviews and high expectations, stands strong in fifth place with ₹99 crores—driven primarily by his massive fan base. Similarly, Ram Charan’s “Game Changer”, criticized heavily by critics and audiences alike, surprisingly occupies second place with a whopping ₹156.03 crores. Both films are commercial underperformers given their high budgets, yet their collections reflect the enduring draw of star power in Telugu cinema.
Meanwhile, “Sankranthiki Vasthunam” leads the pack with a dominant ₹220.90 crores, setting a benchmark that few have come close to in 2025.
Despite better reception than some of these star-heavy films, Kingdom hasn’t managed to convert talk into tickets, highlighting the limits of brand value without a strong pull at the box office. With its theatrical run still ongoing, only time will tell if it can inch further up the rankings.
