OYO Reveals Travel Trends and Milestones for New Year 2025

Ritesh Agarwal, founder and Group CEO of OYO Rooms, revealed the most popular travel destinations for New Year 2025. Surprisingly, lesser-known hill stations saw a significant rise in bookings, marking a shift in traveler preferences for the festive season.

Spiritual Destinations Shine Bright
In addition to hill stations, spiritual locations emerged as hotspots for New Year celebrations. Shirdi witnessed a staggering 940% increase in bookings, while Ajmer recorded a 761% surge. Varanasi (Banaras) took the lead as the most sought-after spiritual destination, with 12,841 bookings. Ayodhya also made a strong debut among top spiritual destinations, with Ritesh predicting it will dominate January bookings, driven by the upcoming Pran Pratishtha anniversary.

New Year Trends: Night Owls and Global Reach
OYO reported over 10 lakh users worldwide on New Year’s Eve, a 58% increase compared to 2023. Over 4.7 lakh users accessed the platform, with a notable 41% spike in website traffic at 2 a.m., underscoring the night owl habits of OYO’s users.

A Strong Financial Turnaround and Strategic Growth
OYO achieved a net profit of ₹132 crore in Q1FY25, a remarkable recovery from a ₹108 crore loss in the same period last year. The company also recently announced the acquisition of G6 Hospitality, the US-based parent company of Motel 6 and Studio 6, from Blackstone, signaling its global growth ambitions.

Ritesh Agarwal’s insights and OYO’s robust performance highlight changing travel trends and the company’s strategic focus on innovation and expansion.
