AI in Music: Thaman’s Bold Experiment for Game Changer
AI technology, once a budding innovation, is now rapidly evolving into a transformative force with immense potential. While its future impact remains to be fully realized, its current achievements are both fascinating and, in some cases, thought-provoking.
Just recently, an AI-generated video imagining the characters of Squid Game played by different actors went viral on social media. The video brought to life seemingly impossible scenarios, making even the most unlikely combinations feel authentic. But AI’s influence isn’t confined to visuals—it has now entered the realm of music as well. A recent incident shared by popular composer Thaman highlights just how far AI in music has come.
The song “Jaragandi Jaragandi” from the upcoming film Game Changer initially faced negative feedback after an unofficial leak with poor audio quality. Interestingly, the song’s first version was recorded by a Hyderabadi singer named Hanuman. Later, AI technology was used to rework the track, giving it the voice of celebrated singer Daler Mehndi. The AI-generated output was so convincing that listeners genuinely believed Daler Mehndi had performed the song. Naturally, necessary permissions were secured before conducting this experiment, so copyright concerns were avoided. This innovative use of AI mirrors earlier experiments by music maestro A.R. Rahman.
Despite the early challenges, “Jaragandi Jaragandi” is now being seen as a potential chartbuster. Members of the Game Changer team, including SJ Surya, have expressed optimism about its success. Thaman himself is confident that the song will captivate audiences, especially with its grand production, high-energy choreography by Prabhu Deva, and the electrifying dance performances of Ram Charan and Kiara Advani. All signs point to this song becoming a major highlight when the film hits theatres.
