Truecaller Launches Real-Time Caller ID and Spam Blocking for iPhone Users

Truecaller, the popular caller identification and spam-blocking app, has announced a major update for its iPhone users, bringing two highly anticipated features—real-time Caller ID and automatic spam call blocking. These functionalities, previously exclusive to Android devices, are now available globally for Truecaller’s Premium subscribers, thanks to advancements in Apple’s iOS 18 framework.

New Features and Enhancements

The latest update integrates with Apple’s Live Caller ID Lookup framework, leveraging Truecaller’s AI-powered global database for superior spam detection and caller identification. The new features include:

Live Caller ID: Instantly identifies incoming calls in real-time, offering users immediate visibility of the caller’s identity.
Automatic Spam Blocking: Automatically blocks spam calls, a feature that has been in high demand among iPhone users.
In addition, Truecaller is introducing a Premium Family Plan, allowing subscribers to share benefits, including the AI Assistant, with up to four family members at no extra cost. In India, this plan also includes fraud insurance coverage for family members.

While free iOS users will continue to access ad-supported features such as manual number search and caller ID for verified businesses, live caller ID and spam blocking are exclusive to Premium subscribers.

How to Enable New Features

To activate these new features on iOS 18.2, users must:

Update to Truecaller for iPhone version 14.0 or later.
Navigate to Settings > Apps > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification and enable all Truecaller switches.
Open the Truecaller app to finalize the activation.
Strategic Impact

Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO of Truecaller, expressed pride in offering iPhone users the same advanced Caller ID and spam-blocking experience that Android users have enjoyed for years, stating, “15 years after our inception, we are excited to deliver a world-class user experience to iOS.”

Fredrik Kjell, COO of Truecaller, highlighted that iOS users already contribute 40% of Truecaller’s premium revenues, with a conversion rate five times higher than that of Android. With the rollout of these features, Truecaller aims to strengthen its presence in markets with high iOS penetration and accelerate its subscription revenue growth. The company is targeting recurring revenue of 1 billion SEK in the coming years.

Currently, Truecaller boasts approximately 30 million iOS users, with 750,000 paying subscribers. The global rollout of these features is expected to significantly boost Truecaller’s user base and premium subscription growth, further solidifying its leadership in the caller identification and spam-blocking space.

Conclusion

Truecaller’s update for iPhone users marks a significant milestone, enhancing the app’s functionality with real-time caller identification and automated spam call blocking. This update is poised to drive growth in markets with high iOS penetration and increase Truecaller’s subscription revenues as it continues to innovate and expand its services globally.
