Speaking on Matthew Belloni’s podcast The Town, Aamir revealed that he is yet to recover the investment. “I hope to make the money back. Right now, both YouTube and I are separately promoting it on the platform,” he said.

The film’s pay-per-view release on YouTube has reportedly exceeded expectations, with distinct budgets set aside for its theatrical and digital runs. According to industry analyst Komal Nahta, Prime Video had offered ₹120 crore for the film, but Aamir rejected the deal.

Directed by R. S. Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par has already raked in approximately ₹276 crore worldwide at the box office.

Calling the pay-per-view model “a great opportunity for indie filmmakers who don’t get theatrical distribution,” Aamir suggested it could become a promising new path for smaller productions.
