War 2 Early Morning Shows Risky but Promising
There’s buzz in distribution circles that War 2 might have special early morning shows in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, possibly starting as early as 4 AM. While such pre-dawn screenings are unusual for Hindi films—which typically premiere the night before or in the morning—the Telugu market has seen huge success with similar early shows for films like Devara and Pushpa 2.
However, this strategy isn’t foolproof, as films like Hari Hara Veera Mallu and Game Changer showed, proving that early premieres depend heavily on content quality.
The big question is whether this move is safe for War 2. Despite Jr NTR’s star power, it remains a Bollywood film dubbed into Telugu. The Bollywood style might not fully connect with all Telugu viewers, and if the content falls short, early reviews from these high-expectation screenings could hurt its word of mouth—similar to what happened with Guntur Kaaram.
There are logistical challenges too. Yash Raj Films reportedly needs to approve the early shows, as this would mean releasing the film hours before its North Indian debut. Plus, War 2 faces stiff competition from Coolie, raising the risk of fan clashes and negative publicity.
That said, Jr NTR’s massive fan base remains the strongest support for War 2 in the South. If his fans rally behind the film as they did for Devara, it could turn into a blockbuster in the Telugu market. But the gamble with early premieres definitely carries risks.
