In a bid to justify the removal of Aamir Khan as ambassador of ‘Incredible India’ campaign, a top official claimed that Khan tarnished ‘brand India’ while being the ambassador.
Amitabh Kant, Secretary of Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, stated that the actor by calling the country as intolerant went against his role as brand ambassador.
Without revealing the name directly, but hinting towards Khan, Kant further said that brand ambassador cannot turn as destroyer of brand.
In late 2015, Khan sparked huge intolerance debate across India after he expressed his views over the rising ‘intolerance’ in the wake of Dadri incident. He further revealed that his wife suggested that the family should move out of the country for safety.
