Aamir Khan has recently launched a new pay-per-view model for his films, making them available for rental on his official YouTube channel at an affordable price of ₹100. However, Apple device users noticed a discrepancy, with the rental price showing as ₹179 instead of ₹100.
Responding quickly, Aamir Khan Productions issued an apology and assured fans that steps are being taken to correct the pricing issue.
This innovative distribution strategy marks a shift in how Aamir Khan’s films will reach audiences. Instead of releasing his movies on major OTT platforms like Netflix or Prime Video, the actor has chosen to make them directly available on his YouTube channel. Once rented, viewers can watch the film within a 48-hour window.
Explaining his vision behind the move, Aamir said the initiative aims to encourage audiences to return to theatres while also making cinema affordable and accessible across the country. He also announced plans to support aspiring filmmakers by providing them space on the channel, helping them bypass the challenges of a traditional theatrical release.
Additionally, his acclaimed TV show Satyamev Jayate will also be uploaded on the platform for free viewing at a later stage.
