Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is experiencing a whirlwind of emotions as he awaits the release of his highly anticipated film, Sitaare Zameen Par. Speaking to the media, the actor candidly admitted to feeling both anxious and excited. “Now, we wait to see how audiences respond,” he said.
Directed by Prasanna and written by Divya Nidhi Sharma, Sitaare Zameen Par explores the lives of neurodivergent adults—an emotionally resonant subject for Aamir, who previously touched hearts with Taare Zameen Par. Co-starring Genelia Deshmukh, the film promises a heartwarming narrative about empathy, inclusion, and joy.
Discussing his experience working with neurodivergent individuals, Aamir shared, “There was absolutely no difference in how we worked. They brought so much energy and harmony to the set. No egos, no creative differences—just pure joy.” Reflecting on the emotional impact, he added, “They made me feel like the most loved person in the world. Despite their challenges, they radiate happiness in a way most of us don’t. They’ve taught me how to be truly content.”
The cast includes actors aged 12 to 42, including Special Olympics gold medalist Rishi Sahani. “They aren’t just kids—they’re professionals and absolute team players,” Aamir emphasized. His character, Gulshan, is a stark contrast to his real-life persona—rude, politically incorrect, and always in conflict. “Playing him was liberating. I explored a side of myself I don’t usually express,” he said.
Aamir also delved into his meticulous approach to filmmaking. “Filmmaking is like cooking—every ingredient and step matters. Failures teach me more than successes ever have,” he admitted, revealing how his past disappointments have fueled his drive to tell more meaningful stories.
Despite skepticism following Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir stood by his decision to make Sitaare Zameen Par, even though it’s inspired by a Spanish film. “It’s not a remake—it’s a reimagining rooted in Indian culture. Just like someone might prefer baingan ka bharta over aubergine mousse, it’s about telling the story your way,” he explained.
Addressing rumors about a direct OTT release, Aamir clarified, “This film is for theatres. My bond with the audience was built in cinemas, and I want to honour that. Maybe I’m taking a financial risk, but I believe in the magic of the big screen.”
On a personal note, Aamir reflected on his emotional growth. “I’ve made mistakes in films and relationships, but I’ve learned from each one. Therapy helped me understand that happiness is my own responsibility,” he said. Despite his divorces, he remarked, “My relationships didn’t break. I’ve been remarkably successful in them, in a different way.”
For Aamir, Sitaare Zameen Par is more than a film—it’s a mission. A story of compassion, joy, and transformation that he believes can open hearts and change perspectives, much like Taare Zameen Par and 3 Idiots did in the past.
