Big Shake-Up in Mega Summer Releases

January 25, 2026

Mega heroes are firmly back on the success track. After Pawan Kalyan’s powerful comeback with OG last year, Megastar Chiranjeevi followed it up with a unanimous blockbuster, Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu. These back-to-back successes have put Mega fans in celebratory mode.

Attention has now shifted to the crucial Summer season, traditionally dominated by Mega films. Big-ticket projects like Ram Charan’s Peddi, Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh, and Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara were expected to storm the box office within a short span. Adding to the lineup, Sai Durgha Tej’s Sambaralu Yetigattu and Varun Tej’s Korean Kanakaraju were also eyeing late-Summer releases.

However, recent developments suggest a major reshuffle in the Mega Summer calendar. Ram Charan’s Peddi, originally slated for a March 27 release, is likely to miss the early Summer window due to pending shoot portions and post-production work. While an official announcement is still awaited, sources indicate the makers are now targeting a May 1 release.

Meanwhile, buzz has intensified around Ustaad Bhagat Singh, with strong speculation that it may step into Peddi’s vacated March slot. Although the film’s shoot has wrapped up, a considerable amount of patchwork and post-production remains. The final call will depend on how swiftly the team can complete the first copy.

On the other hand, Vishwambhara, Chiranjeevi’s long-delayed fantasy adventure, has faced multiple postponements due to extensive VFX work. Given its massive budget, the makers initially aimed for a Summer release to maximize returns. However, the latest reports suggest the film may now skip Summer altogether and target a July 10 release.

What was expected to be a Mega-filled Summer with back-to-back releases now appears headed for a significant reshuffle. While uncertainty continues around Peddi’s release date, it is increasingly clear that Ustaad Bhagat Singh will arrive earlier than planned. Clarity is still awaited on the final release strategy for Vishwambhara.
