India is poised for a significant workforce transformation driven by Agentic AI, which is projected to reshape 10.35 million jobs by 2030, according to the ServiceNow AI Skills Research 2025, conducted in partnership with Pearson. The report positions India as a rising leader in AI maturity within the Asia-Pacific region, highlighting the country’s rapid strides in AI adoption and enterprise readiness.
“India’s AI journey is at a defining moment, with Agentic AI not only redefining existing roles but also creating over 3 million new tech jobs by the end of the decade,” stated Sumeet Mathur, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, ServiceNow India Technology and Business Center. The study reveals that Indian companies are becoming regional pacesetters by embracing AI-centric strategies, platform-first approaches, and forward-looking talent development.
The report classifies job transformations into two categories: high-automation roles, such as change managers and payroll clerks, increasingly being handled by AI systems; and high-augmentation roles, like system administrators and implementation consultants, who are leveraging AI to boost their effectiveness.
Sectors expected to see the most profound changes include manufacturing (8 million roles), retail (7.6 million), and education (2.5 million). With its large, youthful workforce and a digital-first economic outlook, India is well-positioned to capitalise on AI’s potential, provided it continues to invest in talent and infrastructure.
Notably, 25% of Indian enterprises are already in the transformation phase of AI maturity—outpacing regional counterparts such as Singapore and Australia. Furthermore, nearly 14% of tech budgets are now allocated to AI adoption, driving demand for emerging roles like AI Configurators, Experience Designers, and Data Scientists.
Despite this momentum, challenges persist. Data security remains a top concern for 30% of organizations, while 26% express uncertainty about future skill requirements. These concerns underscore the urgent need for cross-functional reskilling, strategic alignment, and a robust framework for human-AI collaboration built on trust and transparency.
The report concludes that India has a generational opportunity to lead globally in AI transformation—by scaling beyond pilots to enterprise-wide execution, reimagining workflows, and investing in sustainable innovation.
